"A Look at Sexual Diversity in Nicaragua" is a pioneering study that analyzes the situation of people of sexual diversity in our country, by men and women differently organized sex @ s in the Strategic Group for Human Rights Sexual Diversity (GEDDS).

The study reflects the situation of gays, lesbians, transgender @ s, transvestites, transgender, bisexual and intersex people in areas like education, comprehensive health care and labor rights.

"Research in one of their findings determined that gender is a cultural construction and that each of us as build their own gender, regardless of biological sex and sexual identity," said GEDDS members.

Regarding the Human Rights of Sexual Diversity in Nicaragua, research confirms that people of sexual diversity and family live in social discrimination because of our sexual identity. For our identity are discriminated against in schools, families, workplaces, and the health system. Furthermore, in the educational system there homo-lesbo-bi-transphobia.

Another result to note is that all sexual identities at least 1 in 5 people of sexual diversity have experienced violence and that violence against nostro @ s is more often the more visible is our sexual identity .

The publication of the study aims to sensitize the general public and mainly the governmental and nongovernmental institutions to design and implement policies that promote respect for human rights of sexual diversity.

The GEDDS intended that the results of this study useful in planning the work, credible and accepted by the State and other stakeholders in the country, as well as agencies of development cooperation.

This study scientifically rigorous and comprehensive nature allows for a broader vision of our reality and provides key clues to develop educational processes, communication and awareness in the field of human rights: education, health, Family, Work and the Law to faith.
