Duratón River Gorges River Canyon Mouth Ass Lobos

Name: Lobos River Canyon
Location: Lobos River Canyon Natural Park is a 14 km gorge . length located in the mountains of Nafría. It is one of the reliefs that are interposed between the Central Plateau and the Iberian. Located in eastern province Soria, is divided between the provinces of Burgos and Soria in the latter but has its most prominent stretch. Belongs to the municipalities of Hontoria del Pinar (Burgos), Ucero Nafría of Ucero, Herrera de Soria, Casarejos, San Lorenzo de Yagüe and St. Mary of the Pits (Soria).
Route Type: ruta de ida y vuelta Difficulty: baja
Distance: approx. depends on the selected route but rarely exceed 12 km . Estimated time: depends on the selected route, but usually less than 5 to 6 hours.
Height min / max: oscillates between 950 and 1200 meters.
travel Description: This first stage is approximately three kilometers, from the Ucero bridge over the river to the hermitage of San Bartolomé (or San Bartolo, who so call it).

is the path traveled by tourists, but it would still be a beautiful spectacle, the limestone cliffs to join us for miles, start here with the slopes of lush pine trees and birds of prey, bonded griffon vultures and golden eagles, do not stop to fly. The shapes and colors of rocks spark our imagination. The river between cattails, watercress, reeds, water lilies, water lilies ... and it begins to show its varied flora. Also this section can do for the upper, from the top of the port Galiana, we can go for any of the marked trails.

This alternative has the interest from it to observe the beautiful views of the areas referred to above, the most visited sections, that here we find different and impressive. We admire the plain of Ucero, always in splendor. It is a journey almost on one level to the precipice of the Covateilla; there, you can choose between two paths, cross straight (down and up) or continue to cross the creek, which already appears shortly after the shrine, down until it is quite pronounced, but if you follow the marked trails, you'll be fine. Original junipers surrounding the shrine. Facing

Grande Cave behind the chapel, there is a small wooden bridge that will cross to start the second stage of about eight miles. The principle is comfortable thanks to the marked trails until you reach the spectacular punctured Colmenar rock wall called the Friars, later the walls are still with us, some of them to the river, causing it to narrow its course. Later we will have to ford the river several times, one at the confluence of the stream of the river Valderrueda Lobos.

From here the canyon narrows again and the walls are most impressive, if possible. I will greet the vultures that live in the huge holes in the rocks. In the area of Rincon de la Fuente is a large rocky dome and access you will find well signposted on the hillside, is the entrance to the Cueva Negra. We follow the path down again the river and continue along the riverside to the Las Fuentes. The gun makes its way through dense masses of black pine. The path now becomes a winding track crosses the river several times. The Bridge of the Seven Eyes welcomes us to the end of our route. From here, the canyon narrows even more and soon after us into the province of Burgos. This part of the Canyon, part of Burgos, is less visited but no less beautiful and has the attraction of being less busy.

To return it is best to retrace, it went. Another solution is to have a support vehicle and return by road.

This page find more routes within the river canyon wolves.

Height min / max: 1,100 m (Puente de Segovia) / 1325 m Bridge (Cantina)
travel Description: START and FINISH: Puente de Segovia, Valsaín or Cantina Bridge (mile markers 119, 124 and 131 of the CL road -601). Also in Recreational Areas Seats Mouth of Ass.

De La Granja in Segovia direction from Valsaín can choose from the upper reaches of the pine forest or the low bush, or from the Bridge of the Cantina, 6 km from Puerto de Navacerrada, the slope of Segovia.

Along the route passes through the recreational areas of the seats and the donkey's mouth, where they can also let the car.

Route that runs through the upper Eresma River, formerly called River Valsaín Areva. May arise in many ways, because throughout the entire route are starting points from which or to terminate the route. This is a convenient layout and routing, no loss to follow the entire river. Besides the beautiful scenery, visiting plants, banks and pine forests of the Montes de Valsaín, has a unique historical and cultural value.

this route is developed in the countryside for the remains of the trail that King Carlos III ordered its construction in the eighteenth century to enjoy the rides and fishing during their summer stays at the Palacio de La Granja. Advance on the path of a nearby river, through oak and pine forests, crossing rugged Roman bridges. A dream ride for lovers of beauty and history more natural. Leaving

Valsaín. Behind the bullring we are heading towards an iron gate (the caretaker of the park) to go towards the river Eresma, which will cross a wooden bridge clearly visible, walking since then by the left bank of the river to the canal bridges built in the Age of Philip II to carry water to Valsaín Palace, which now lies in ruins. This is a place of great beauty.

continue along either banks of the river to reach the rest area of the seats (in just 45 minutes.) Continuing along the river, reaching the Wagon Bridge Nava. At this time we will continue our way to the right side of river.

Ten minutes after the bridge you will find a stone with the Royal Coat of Carlos III, and just 15 minutes later arrive at the recreation area of the donkey's mouth, ideal for rest and spend a real picnic and nature or even bathe in the waters of Eresma.

Valsaín return to the same path. We may choose to return along the river opposite to that by which we get here, to know both sides of Eresma.

Another route:
Valsaín Leaving behind the bullring towards the river, an iron door will give way to the farm known as the park, where walk upstream along the left margin, having crossed by a wooden bridge located very close to the keeper of the park, we just crossed. So

reach the canal bridges, striking, some say of Roman origin, due to its construction in the form of pipeline. But nothing is all contrasted and its origin is somewhat desconocido.Pasamos a revolving door at Channel Bridge and see the canal bridge, on the hollow log that crosses it is the transport of water. We crossed the river again via the Bridge, and continued our way up the river, this time by the right side of Eresma, enjoying an increasingly attractive route that as we move forward in striking gains.

So come to the first recreation area: the seats, where there is parking for cars, wooden benches and tables scattered throughout the pine forest and a small park with swings and slides for children. Later we Nava Find yourselves with the Wagon Bridge. With two eyes, one crossed by the river and a smaller right to cross on foot. During the trip we appreciate as we walked along a paved road that appears and disappears continuously, is the Royal Path of Fisheries, which we will reward each step with exciting new attractions. Carlos III, 53, did not hesitate to use for two years (1767-1769) their best teachers work to condition the Left Bank Eresma. In this way is called Royal Way of Fisheries, its purpose was to facilitate fishing on royalty also encourage a suitable environment for raising trout (deductions were created in the course of the river and through gentle waterfalls is oxygenated water).

The road leads to another recreational area: the ass's mouth. Tucked between the narrowness of its rocks, in the past that offered shelter and resting place for kings, field dressed, liked to snack on these sites. He was also chosen by scientists and researchers as Castellarnau (XIX century), who liked for its ornithological or botanical observations. If we approach the river, a carved crown along with text indicates the date of preparation of the road. It can be seen from a viewpoint waters under the bridge in full narrowness. Always on the river reach the wooden bridge known as Ponte Vadillos, and from there to what was the House Fisheries, where nothing remains of what was a former ranger's house.

From the Interpretation Center of Valsaín Pine, which is located in "The Donkey's Mouth", is conducting a series of guided tours, summer and winter are marked by pine forests. There are some brochures that can be used as a guide when going for a walk in the pine forest.

The best way to know the area is through the Interpretation Centre, the source of the pine forest, you can see how it grows, how it develops. With the burden of cities, people have to breathe fresh air and with these routes, escape the pollution is possible. There are 8 routes, of these, three depart from Navacerrada and three from the mouth of the ass.

Maps / Plans:
The route described may not correspond 100% with the route marked on the map for more intense color, but can serve as a guide for the area.
Anecdotes: Mucha was the supporters of King Charles III to go these places with his cane in search of wild trout, as ordered to build in the left bank of Rio de Valsain a great road that became so hard fans pleasant pastime.

One time we went we swam in a pool that had near an old water mill. It was summer and it was very hot and I remember that we had no bikini and we had to swim with clothes.
